A Walk to Remember
Nothing noteworthy happened during the morning today and work just passed by fine. Some of my colleagues asked me some tips about my next career path and some general questions about DevOps, and I mostly worked on my tasks for today. Things ramped up in the afternoon which made me take a while to time out of work.
After that, my Mom and sister invited me to go and walk with them to BGC like we did on New Year's. I agreed and wore my standard outfit. We walked from Libingan ng mga Bayani to Bonifacio High Street and it was such a long walk. My Mom asked me if we wanted to take the jeep instead since they were worried for me, but it was fine and I was confident that I could walk all the way to BGC with them. It was a hard walk, with my heel still hurting from yesterday but I powered through in the name of fitness. When we got to BGC, they still weren't tired so we walked for a bit more on Terra 28th, like we did yesterday, and I got a lot of steps on my Apple Watch. After they got tired, we walked around for a little bit while deciding what to eat for dinner.
We stopped by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf because my Mom wanted to drink matcha (and also because she doesn't think that the matcha in Starbucks is "organic" enough). We got matcha and they also got me a slice of a blueberry cheesecake. After that, we walked around for a little bit more. My sister saw some kids mimicking Squid Game and she bought some spare plain white t-shirts at Bench. While my Mom and I were waiting outside, my Mom noticed that a guy's face was swollen and I didn't notice because we sat at separate locations. When I saw the situation, my sister had already given the guy an antihistamine for his swelling and his face had swelled up really bad. My Mom instructed his friends to get water for him and we eventually left on our way, and they also thanked us for helping them. Thankfully, we were at the right place at the right time to actually help them, or else the guy could have gone into allergic shock because of shrimp.
We then decided to continue walking to Manam, the same Manam where the RC and I went to eat about a month ago, and we ordered some food. We talked for a bit, I took a photo of my Apple Watch, and we finished eating shortly afterward. We went to a nearby Watsons to buy some medicine and I heard a weird guy mumble and talk about the California Wildfire and how it started because they dissed God at the Golden Globe Awards. It was seriously off-putting and infuriating to see religious fanatics and lunatics blame a natural disaster on people and he reminded me of that weirdo Grab driver from yesterday. We continued shopping for a bit and the guy spits out the same dialogue, the same script to the cashiers and they just nodded in agreement, probably feeling a bit threatened. The guy eventually leaves and we purchase our stuff. We booked a Grab ride home and thankfully things were okay this time around. We got home easily and without issue.
Surprisingly, I logged 13,000 steps today and walked a total of 9.68 kilometers, which is a genuine milestone because I haven't walked that much in a long time. I'm glad that I was able to walk that much and have no issues afterward. One thing I noticed today was that I kept playing ABBA's song "Angeleyes" and thinking of my days with someone 3 years ago. It made me think of how much butterflies I felt spending this time of the year with someone back in 2022.
