A Super-Fun After-Work Adventure
Wednesday was pretty eventful. I woke up feeling really late and from a horrible dream
But then my morning got started, albeit at a later time. I also talked to Han and someone in the morning, and spent a good amount of time talking to Han and telling him about my stay in Korea and that we should get together soon. I still tried my best to prepare early enough and I eventually got on a ride to the office. I thought I forgot something, but thankfully I had it in my pocket this whole time. For the rest of the day, I was mostly swamped with work and trying to get a few things done. I had several calls and mostly was focused on getting them done. I did have my coworkers here with me so we were able to buy lunch out and we even stopped by to get some coffee before we came back. But since then, it was just work and getting a script working which would be my main deliverable today.
After work, my coworkers and I had this idea to try the new, viral Dubai Chewy Cookie and there was one in Salcedo village. We then walked there and we initially planned to go to a Vietnamese restaurant but then chose Mendokoro instead because someone else suggested it, and we just played along.
We walked for a long time there and my coworker estimated that it would only take 20 minutes. We wanted to take our coworker's car, but since they said that it would only take 20 minutes, we just walked to it instead. Our entire walk spanned 30 minutes instead! They mostly teased me to one of our coworkers but I lowkey found it annoying since I wasn't interested in them anyway. But I had fun walking, laughing, and joking with them on the way to Mendokoro, it was really, really fun. It was kind of the highlight of my night: just walking together at night, having fun with coworkers after work. It's something I have never had and I last had it during my KVH days.
We stopped by Wildflour Café + Bakery and bought a few things, but I didn't eat mine as I didn't want to get full. After that, we eventually arrived at Mendokoro. I just found out that the super chashu was just a larger pork meat version of the shoyu ramen they serve, so I initially opted for that. But then the server suggested to my other coworker to get this spicy dish instead, which I chose for myself since I wanted something different. Our other coworker was confused why I put down Ian as my name for the reservation, but eventually it was fine and we talked about a few things, mainly where they were staying for the night and such.
After we got seated, we just ate and I sat in the middle of them. I mostly talked to them about their work and such, but then we eventually realized that it was already 8:30 p.m. and we didn't stop by The Kind Cookie Cafe. We searched for the place and it was closed, but we still tried to visit. It was just super close, literally just around the corner from where we were eating. But it was closed and we didn't really want to bother by trying to ask the staff if they could cook 1 more batch of cookies beyond closing time.
It was super funny that we had forgotten our reason for going to Salcedo village in the first place. It was also funny when I realized on our walk back to our friend's car that we should've taken their offer to drive here in the first place. It would've saved us time from walking to and from the carpark in the end. But we just walked and talked about the cars that they bought.
Our coworker was nice to drive us around to our drop-off. I just asked to be dropped off where my other coworker was going to be dropped off, because I didn't want to impose. And as we were arriving, I booked a ride home for myself, albeit it being a bit expensive. Still, I got on the ride and got home without problems. It was still super late so I just relaxed for the rest of the evening as I was so overloaded from all the things that happened today.
