7 Years of Working!!!
I can't believe it. Today was finally March 21st! I've never celebrated March 21st and I only settled on this date when I got my employment certificate from KVH, which solidified that my work experience did start on March 21st, 2018. Which means, I've been in the workforce for 7 years now!!!
It's been a surreal 7 years, to be honest. After dropping out, I didn't expect to land a corporate job, much less to even get to where I am now. So when my first workday started at Makati, the city I've been dreaming of working in, I was so happy and grateful. Fast forward to now where I'm in Makati once again. It's been 7 years but I'm glad that I've made the right choices in life because I didn't stagnate and, well, here I am now as a senior at my profession.
My day was just like any other day in the office. I mostly spent it on being busy, catching up on issues and fixing them. It was mostly nothing noteworthy aside from being late to lunch because I was waiting on the team to actually take their lunch break. Somehow, I've made it a habit of always sticking with them every lunch time.
For the afternoon to the evening, nothing much went on aside from my usual work tasks. I took a break after completing a bunch of work to go to the nearby Starbucks and take a photo there. I posted an IG Story about my 7 years as a corporate worker and I just chilled to celebrate the day. Still, it was kind of disappointing that I left behind my tumbler because I didn't have any water to drink in the office. I just ordered extra cups of water just so I can feel more hydrated. When I went back to the office, a coworker offered me some fried enoki they got from Serenitea. I tried it and it was nice. I eventually bought some for myself and ate it in the office before I timed out for work. I messaged my sister and said that I'd be meeting her in BGC and I booked a ride there.
I mostly sat and waited for my sister to arrive. She eventually just saw me waiting and we went to DataBlitz nearby to pick out keycaps for her, but she didn't really pick anything there. Next, we had dinner at Marugame Udon and I ordered the usual curry for me while my sister got a beef and rice bowl, we also ordered a few sides like tempura and that cheese hotdog stick that I like. Ailysh mostly asked me questions about how my work experience has been and what are the lessons that I've learned after being this long in corporate. I mostly gave her advice that she could use and I remember giving her a quote from Steve Jobs from his graduation speech about how our heart already knows where to go, we just need to follow it. She liked that and then we had to pack up our food for take-out.
We stopped by Fully Booked and took a look at a few books there. We found Jessica's Shine and Bright and I thought about buying it, but we didn't buy it. My sister then found a Cinnamoroll art book in the Japanese manga section and, at first, I was shocked at the price because it was around 1,400 Pesos. But I decided that it was a gift I could give myself for having my 7th work anniversary, so I bought it. I took a photo with another book and posted it on my IG Story. My sister also bought 2 books for herself. After that, we booked a ride home and my sister pointed out that the book says that it was a coincidence that it was Cinnamoroll's 7th anniversary. I checked and it was Cafe Cinnamon's 7th anniversary when the book was published. That's such a crazy coincidence. I just celebrated my 7th anniversary of working and I come across a book that also celebrated another 7th anniversary. It was a nice coincidence and I posted that on my IG Story, too. I posted a lot of IG Stories today, weird.
But then our Grab ride came to pick us up and we talked to the Grab driver while on the way home. His story was interesting because he was a parent of 2 kids and he also got cheated on while his spouse was in Singapore, but he was able to pay off a million Pesos of debt so that his children can study and he also owns multiple cars. It was really interesting because he made it despite all the challenges. I alluded to my sister that our Mom could've also done this and it was just in the mindset, so that was nice. For the rest of the evening, I just relaxed until I fell asleep.
