Crazy Win

Today shaped up to be a normal day in my life, but apparently life had more things in store for me. My day started with me having trouble sleeping and then eventually falling asleep at around 3 a.m. again. Way, way off my scheduled bedtime of 10 p.m. I was able to fall asleep eventually though.

My morning was your usual morning. I woke up okay, I ate some breakfast, but I was mostly in a hurry to leave for the office. I was able to get an Angkas ride relatively quickly, but the thing is, the driver was way far away in BGC. He was around Venice Grand Canal, I believe. It took him 20 minutes to get to my house which caused a major delay. He was awfully chatty as well and wasted some time taking a wrong path. But I eventually arrived in the office okay.

Work was fine as usual and I got really productive today finishing my tasks and logging my work. It was nice to catch up and clear a lot of things on my board for today. So much so, I had a lot of free time by the late afternoon or so. I also had coffee with some of the team I'm sitting next to, or at least I was invited to coffee with them. I told them that I don't really get coffee because I'm acidic and they joked that I shouldn't get it anyway because I'm jumpy and easily scared, which we laughed about it. I eventually got my matcha and it was really nice. It sucks that my matcha drink wasn't more. At the same time, I was talking to the Baguettes and I shared that IG Reel of the matcha mochi I wanted to try at SM Megamall. Max also said that she wanted to try that, too, and Meryll wanted to try it as well after seeing the Reel. Matcha aside, I was able to go back to work and have lunch out with the team sometime later.

Lunch was nothing noteworthy, I just had squid on a sizzling plate which was really nice. The others were shocked that my plate wasn't that expensive, but I told them I just bought a Google Pixel recently that's why my money's short. After that, we went back to the office to work.

By the afternoon, I had some time to kill and 2 of them invited me to play this board game one of them brought called Vale of Eternity. I'm a total sucker for board games. I LOVE board games! I swear. The last board game I played was Avalon during the Dice outing last year, so I could use some fun. I've never heard of Vale of Eternity, though, it's my first time seeing it. But the guy who owned the game did a good job at explaining it and somehow my brain just understood all of that quickly. As we got to playing, it reminded me of a game I used to play, and it definitely was like Yu-Gi-Oh! It really is so similar with the monsters, tributes, summons, phases, spells, field effects, card effects, etc. (I only know Yu-Gi-Oh, not Pokémon TCG). I also told the guys that it reminded me of Yu-Gi-Oh and I grew up playing it. All of the sudden, the gears in my head that loved playing Yu-Gi-Oh on the PSP turned again and I immediately WON the first round of us playing. This game was just introduced to me and yet I won already! Sure, yeah, “beginner's luck” and I lost the next round. But I still had those cogs turning and I won the next 2 consecutive rounds! We played 4 rounds in total, and I won 3 of them, even though they weren't going easy on me anymore. One of the other guys really believed my story in that I genuinely was a Yu-Gi-Oh addict back then. 3/4 wins, not bad for a beginner.

After those quick games, we went back to our desks and I did some wrapping up on my tasks for the day before logging off. I booked a ride home relatively early.

I wasn't planning on doing anything by the late evening, but something just came up that I had to do and, for what it was worth, it was really, really fun. I'm glad I went on that trip, even though it was a bit scary.
