Tron: After 10+ Years
Greetings, Programs! It’s been 10 years since I first watched Tron and I’ve waited for a successor to Tron: Legacy ever since then. That movie shaped my early teen life so much, it made me love computers, technology, and a lot of nerdy tech stuff so I’m glad to finally watch another Tron film.
The day started out normally, it was just me spending time and talking to someone while in a call. She didn’t have Internet connection but we were still able to talk while I was eating my salad from Wendy’s. I eventually finished my food and eventually had to sleep so our call ended there.
I woke up with a good amount of sleep, but it wasn’t the full 8 hour experience, so it was still lacking. I continue to go to the office today until the end of the week so I still had to prepare myself even though it was already raining. I just braved the rain and I thankfully found a ride. I was thankfully only a bit rained on and I’m glad the driver brought a raincoat. We passed by a section in our village that I’ve never been through before, so that was interesting. I got to the office fine, thankfully.
Work today was fairly as usual as the other days but I spent lunch with my coworkers. I posted a lot of pics on my IG so I got to talk to Max, Naomi, Kai and a few other friends replied to my IG Story throughout the day so that made me feel way happy. I was super busy talking to them on my lunch break and even when I was waiting for my jasmine milk tea from this Thai milk tea place we visited, which was nice. I went back to the office and just focused on my tasks for the remainder of the day.
Near the evening, we had merienda nearby and I just ate siomai and siopao and I was able to get a shawarma. I finished and completed a great deal of incoming tasks by the end of the evening and had some spare time sitting next to my coworkers while they were talking about DotA 1 when it was still in Warcraft. I didn’t play Frozen Throne but I saw the icon from when I used to use the PCs in Internet cafes.
Eventually my shift for today came to an end and I booked a ride to Venice Grand Canal Mall. I got there fine but I didn’t know where to eat at, so I walked around for a bit until I settled on Mary Grace Cafe. I ordered beef… whatever from the breakfast menu, a mint hot chocolate, and a salad which was very filling. I went in the movie theater afterward and a lady personally walked up to me and took a picture of my ticket and told me that she would prepare my popcorn and drink, which I found weird. Then I went inside the theater and waited for a while only to realize one thing:
I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS WHOLE MOVIE THEATER FOR THIS SCREENING
I genuinely could not believe it. No one else is watching this movie as me??? What the fuck? I have never had this happen to me in my history of watching movies at Venice Grand Canal Mall. There’s always at least other people. It’s just so baffling to see no one else here that I had to take a picture of the empty cinema and post it on my IG Story. Eventually the film started and I was just glad that I wasn’t watching a horror or ghost movie.
The movie was pretty good! I kept looking at the commands they were typing on the screen and it’s so nice to recognize so many Linux and UNIX commands because of my DevOps experience. I found it super funny that one scene showed a Linux systemD command as well. I also kept minding the soundtrack because I loved Daft Punk’s soundtrack for the last movie and I could say that this movie’s soundtrack was pretty nice, too. I went home happy but also creeped out that I was the only person in the theater and the only person to go home from the cinemas. I booked a ride home and talked to someone on and off, but they seemed busy and more interested in talking about Travis Kelce’s exes than anything. Which I couldn’t get into and honestly found it disappointing because they didn’t seem interested in the slightest in what I thought of the movie. It kinda sucks that I had no one to share my enthusiasm about Tron for, but whatever, I guess it’s a me thing that only I appreciate. I replied to a letter on Slowly and did some light catch up on my other things before going to sleep.
