Last Full Day in Seoul (and in Korea)

28.8°C Showers

I didn't really have anything concrete planned today in my itinerary. Today was more of an “explore and have fun” day. I decided to visit that Kiki's Delivery Service-themed cafe, Koriko Cafe, and I took the bus going there. Afterwards, I walked to Koriko Cafe and ordered their meat pie, as well as 2 coffee drinks. The food was nice and I ordered some Ghibli-themed stuff for someone. It was kinda expensive, and it shocked me how my expenses have been because I maxed out my credit card. I reloaded some money to my card and paid for some stuff.

After that, I wanted to go to another stop I was curious about but I just couldn't push through as I couldn't figure out how to book a reservation there. Naver required some Korean ID and I just couldn't figure out how to book as a foreigner/tourist, so I just decided to forgo it. Still, I decided to go there and I took the bus again. I saw some girl wear the exact same Cinnamoroll jacket that I had and my eyes lit up so much. As I was trying to figure out how to book a reservation, some elderly guy kept looking at me, even though I was just sitting at some bench. I think they were looking at me funny because they were racist or something, and I think that was my only racist encounter so far on this trip.

So I got kinda spooked and started walking. I didn't push through with trying to get a reservation and tried to chill at a Gong Cha nearby. Apparently, I had wandered onto Hongdae Shopping Street without even knowing it. I took some photos of some cherry blossoms that were blooming, and then I decided to visit Mang Taho around Hyewa. I took a taxi going there and the taxi driver was a lot more patient than the one in Busan, which surprised me. We got off at a weird stop because I think it was trying to drop us off at the Catholic church inside. I just got off and I went to some stalls that we passed by. To my surprise, they were selling Filipino food, and that there were Filipinos there. It was actually an entire community of Filipinos, which was surprising as hell. I just had some Filipino food there, even though I actually kind of dislike the idea of Filipino food because I'm dreading to go back to the Philippines tomorrow. I am literally going back to the Philippines, I don't know why I ate at a Filipino food stall. The elderly lady there was impressive because she spoke Korean and Tagalog, to my surprise. I also talked to another elderly lady who said that she misses the Philippines and I was taken aback so much. It was almost offensive to me. But it was fine, I order some food and turon and then went to a Starbucks nearby. After a while, I got tired of wandering around Hyewa and I took some photos of some cherry blossoms that bloomed before I took the subway to Myeongdong again.

I went to Cats' Playground since I was interested in visiting a cat cafe, and it's been a while anyway since I last saw a cat. I saw so many cute cats there and took photos of the various cats. I missed Milktea a bit, but I just enjoyed my time here checking out the cats and the place itself. I saw several big cats, too, which were well-fed and had this bib that said “No Food,” which was funny. Afterwards, I just walked around Myeongdong, I had some more lamb skewers and I ate another chicken skewer. I came across some Filipinos there, funny enough, and this couple approached me while I was eating a lamb skewer. A lady asked me if I was Malaysian and I told her I was a Filipino, which was interesting because she immediately clocked me as a fellow South East Asian. It was a funny exchange, and I eventually went my way after that. I tried the baby octopus skewer after that and that's where my food adventure ended for the day. I went to a nearby Starbucks to finally order those tumblers, an Incheon one and a Seoul one for myself. I also booked a window seat in the Jeju Air app and I collected my mobile boarding pass, too. I drank some drink there but eventually left.

For my last night, I visited Cheonggyecheon once again. I was a bit anxious since I didn't want to have an accident and suddenly sprain myself, since I HAD to catch that flight out tomorrow, so I was a bit more careful. I walked downstream, I passed by some parts and eventually had the courage to walk on stones that led across the stream. Afterwards, I booked a taxi ride back to my hotel room and just prepared for my flight out tomorrow. I signed up for Incheon's Smart Pass and fully prepared my luggage by packing in everything for my flight.
