Fri
Today, I just wanted to cut myself some slack from all that's happening in life and to set the mood for what's going to happen tomorrow at Boracay. I really just wanted to think of myself and my plans for today. Plus, as a consolation, I decided to gift myself something.
For today, I just made some software preparations, updated my sites, server, PC, whatnot. I also added in a location thing that shows my significant location for that specific journal entry and have retroactively added it to some recent dates. So that was something productive. Since the weather was favorable, I decided to go out to treat myself in BGC. I didn't need any earbuds at all, I still love my same-old Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and I've been fine using it with my iPhone. But AirPods are the only "cheap enough" gift I could get myself. I gave my Galaxy Buds to my sister who'll definitely love it more than I do.
I booked a ride to BGC and got myself AirPods Pros with the USB C case. I also bought a few accessories like a bundled powerbank and extra Bluetooth headphones for only 1K that was on sale. Then I got an AirTag to use on Milktea's collar. I'm actually surprised I spent that much money but I didn't flinch from spending that much, which doesn't sound like a good feeling. But it's okay because I know I'm spending it all for myself (and my cat), so it's all worth it.
I sat at a bench thinking about the people I was with a few years before. That group who all had iPhones, talked on iMessage and showed off their latest Apple products, and I was always seen as different because I had a 2nd-hand Samsung Android who couldn't iMessage with them. It's funny how I'm the one now who has all of the latest, brand-new shit from Apple. The latest and most expensive iPhone model, the latest Apple Watch, and now the latest AirPods.
I guess part of me is petty and wants to get back at them because they were such materialistic people when I just loved using my old Samsung phone, even if it was just a 2nd-hand phone I bought at Greenhills.
Since I didn't feel like eating yet, I went to the Starbucks on Bonifacio High Street nearby but the line took a while, I just decided to walk a bit more to my "favorite place" in BGC, which was Starbucks on 32nd Street. I got my order and I really missed just having a MacBook and coding/doing work on here like I used to. I really should get a new laptop soon.
Eventually, it started to rain and it rained like hell. I didn't want to get stranded so I immediately booked a ride home. Thankfully, I got an Angkas ride and I was able to still enjoy the ride home despite it raining so heavily. The thunder was so loud, too. But I thankfully made it okay and the rider sought shelter nearby. I had to ask my sister to come pick me up with an umbrella because my stupid ass didn't carry one (although, it didn't seem like it would rain when I left). Thankfully, the paper bag carrying all of the boxes and stuff was still relatively-dry and I unpacked and charged all of the new stuff I would bring for my vacation trip tomorrow. I also packed my bags and I'd be using the same Dice bag I got last Christmas.
For the rest of the day, nothing much happened. I mostly packed and got everything organized for my trip to Boracay for the next few days. I haven't had a proper vacation in a long time and I really just want to rest and recoup. I've dealt with so much over the past few years and the last thing I could give myself is a vacation. I couldn't sleep much for the rest of the day because I was excited for tomorrow and also because I'm watching over Milktea and hoping that he's okay.
