New Year's Day

New Year's day 2026 was pretty fun, my family and I were in this big crowd that's just shoulder-to-shoulder with people. We got our phones out and my paranoia was somehow high for today because I thought a stampede would occur or some crazy thing would happen. But no, thankfully, we just celebrated the coming of the next year and watched some fireworks for a bit. After that, we kept walking to Burgos Circle so we could find a ride. We managed to find some seats and I walked around to find a nearby bathroom, but when I returned, we still didn't have a ride booked yet. We walked to Starbucks on 8 Forbestown Road so we could chill there, but it was closed. So we decided to just wait there on the empty chairs until we booked a ride. Thankfully, we got one and we were on our way home.

We arrive home just fine and I just did a few programming tasks because I had to update my site for 2026. I added in a few things, wrote my journal entry for December 31st, and deployed my code online. I cleaned up before I got into a call with someone. I mostly watched them play Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for a bit and they played for a good hour or so. After that, they just rested and we watched a few scary YouTube videos until morning.

I noticed them sleeping so I disconnected us from the call and they immediately woke up after. They essentially tried to convince me to stay up with them for their entire night shift since this would be the last time I'd stay up with them for their night shift for a while because they have an upcoming trip and we won't get to talk for a while. I just gave in and continued to accompany them. We watched some videos about this horror channel named Product and they continued to fall asleep while the video was playing. They woke up for a bit due to work but they ultimately kept on sleeping again. Around 9:40 a.m. or so, it was already morning and I was so tired by this time. We eventually had to call it off since they were going to time out for work and sleep anyway, and I got my sleep by then as well.

Nothing much happened and I woke up in the late afternoon. My family and I planned to eat at Samgyupsalamat because we weren't able to eat there yesterday. We all got ready and, thankfully, there wasn't a super-long line to get in. When we arrived, we waited for a bit for our table to get prepared and we eventually got seated. We ate a lot of food for this sitting, mostly cabbage and kimchi. We had a lot of servings of beef and some pork that my Mom wanted to try since she hasn't had it in a while. We enjoyed the food and we were so full by the end, but we had fun and our cravings were satisfied for tonight.

Since we ate a lot, we decided to walk around BGC for a bit more, mostly walking to Fully Booked where my sister bought a new book about the Wicked franchise. We then walked to Starbucks on 32nd Street so we could get drinks and I could complete my 18 stickers. I ordered 4 drinks and, while waiting in line, the guy asked me where I got my Cinnamoroll AirPods case. I just told them that I got it online and they thanked me. I made my order and got my free mug for completing my Starbucks 2026 Collection required stickers. We drank our drinks and had trouble booking a ride, and then we eventually got a ride home and got some rest. I updated my site's code for a bit before going to sleep.
