Suwon Starfield Library and Cinnamoroll Sweets Cafe!
It was already the 6th day of my trip to Korea and I planned to visit the Starfield Library in Suwon. I checked the route that's headed there and eventually took the bus going to Seoksu Station, which would then take me to Hwaseo Station which the Suwon Starfield Library was near. I rode the bus there and at first it was funny because I'm just wearing my usual shirt, while I pass by so many people who are in full winter outfits. But I continue my commute, look up some stuff regarding my passport and employment status, and I just stand on the train until I got off at Hwaseo Station.
I eventually arrived at Hwaseo Station and entered the mall. And at first, it looked just like your ordinary mall. I actually didn't know how a massive library would fit in here, but it eventually made sense when I came to find out that this mall was 7 or more floors. It even looked a bit like SM Aura. I went to Starbucks to get some coffee and I tried out their own thing on the “Dubai chocolate” by ordering their pistaschio-chocolate-bread-thing and some latte coffee. It was nice, but I made my stop short and then went upstairs to where the library was. I eventually got to the floor above the library and I couldn't believe it. The library was so huge. It was pretty big and stacked enough that the shelves for the books were large as hell. It was reminiscent of Murph's bedroom from the movie Interstellar (2014). It was pretty cool and I got my selfie stick out to take a few photos. Eventually, I had asked a few people to take photos of me. I even came across a Filipino couple and I talked to them in Tagalog, and I asked them to take a picture of me. I also had some American dude take photos of me and he was kind enough to take some more photos of me and he was shocked that I was fluent in English, he seemed a bit flabbergasted, which was funny. But I just took a few pictures and enjoyed the scenery.
I didn't stay for long, though, as I headed out after spending an hour in the mall. I took the train and headed to Mapo-gu, which was a stone's throw away from Myeongdong. I went there because the Cinnamoroll Sweets Cafe was there. I initially had trouble finding it, but eventually found it which was inside of a mall. The place was smaller than what I expected, and there were so few people there. I honestly thought it would be packed. The place was nice but it looked like a small, temporary place rather than a permanent fixture, for some reason. I expected it to be grander, but oh well. I liked the various Cinnamoroll-themed stuff they had. I got myself a “photocard” which was essentially a plastic ID with my picture, and it looked pretty cool. I also printed out an ID that I'd give to someone since they were just 3,000 Korean Won. I printed mine but I wanted more variations, so I printed out more. The only problem was that I kinda fucked up with the orientation and placement of my picture for the 2 other ones, which came out borked. I also had 1 borked copy of someone's ID, but I was eventually able to print out a good one.
For my snack there, I tried out a small banana cake-thing of Cinnamoroll and a blue drink which had Cinnamoroll's face on some ice cream. Both looked super cute and they were pretty okay. I thought that I could order some blue Cinnamoroll curry, but apparently that's only in the Cinnamoroll cafe in Japan. After I ate, I took a few pics and bought a lot of stuff at the Cinnamoroll gift shop nearby. I bought some stuff for myself, including an ID case, a big-ass laptop bag, and I also bought some Cinnamoroll stuff for someone. After that, I went to the mall downstairs to buy a Cinnamoroll wallet and this super-cute T-Money Cinnamoroll keychain. It looked like a cute keychain, but it was a functional one in that it was able to store some T-Money credits, which was pretty cool. I also went to the convenience store to try the banana milk latte for myself, and it was good. I had some trouble throwing away stuff again but I was able to dispose and clean up after myself.
I then took the subway again to Myeongdong since it was already nearby. I got some stuff for Anne, then I got someone's stuff, as well as a few remaining stuff that my coworker asked of me since I was already at Olive Young. I also bought LK's stuff at another Olive Young store in Myeongdong. I walked around a bit more and I got that free Olive Young pouch, which I had planned to give to Anne, and that was it.
For the rest of the day, I just chilled at Myeongdong. I tried out some street food there, which was some tempura, and I sought refuge at the nearby Starbucks there because I had to charge my iPhone for a bit. After that, I ate some more street food which was this delicious lamb skewer and I ate some spicy baby octopus skewer which was pretty delicious and spicy. Afterwards, I took the subway going back to the hotel and finally arrived back at the hotel after a long day. Dipping myself in that large hot tub was honestly just what I needed, and I also closed all of my fitness rings on my Apple Watch for today. I just chilled for the rest of the day until the next day rolled around.
